Kayla's birthday update
Kayla's birthday is tomorrow, so there isnt much time.
Heres a quick update. ive finally figured out who should be there for the surprise birthday party. its her brothers! unfortunately i dont know them super well, or have a picture to reference, so im not sure if their caricatures will resemble them very accurately. its the thought the counts anyhow...
I figure im about 2 -3 hours away from completion. Right on track.

Back at it
A lot has happened in the last month and a bit, which is one of the reasons why i havent posted any drawings. I've moved into my house and there just seems to be no end to the work that goes into it. Other cool things have happened in my life which are great. God has been very good to me. not that its anything new that God is good. Even in the times where he feels far away, he's showing grace over our lives.
Things in our lives by no means, make God good. He has sovereign knowledge over our lives and allows for things that go beyond our perspective.
Anyways, This upcoming sunday is Kaylas birthday and the last birthday from the class of '10-'11!
she really likes nancy drew, so im going with that theme Pretty excited about this. The idea behind this is to make an old school nancy drew cover where the girl is peering into a spooky room of sorts to uncover a mystery. the twist here is that she's walking into her surprise birthday party. The tough part of this drawing is Who should be in the party? ive considered the sunday school class, but none of the other kids had the rest of the class in their bday drawing... plus thats way more work than i have time for! another thoguht would be animals... but could be creepy i dont know... hopefully something fun will strike me soon...

2012 Year end drawing
I knew this year had to top last years epic movie poster. How could I achieve this?
Well earlier in the year I began drawing the kids, opposed to an animal that represented their favorite things... so naturally I had to draw them as a class. I've been realy focusing on poses, as I will admit, up until recently has been fairly week. I've learned to really rough out my drawings with circle and lines to get the general feel for it, instead of just going straight for the outlines.
So here first, in blue is my original poses. They have very little detail, because the point was to capture their pose. I was pleased with how freeing this step was...
Next, I could place the outlines with confidence. Here are the final outlines of each character. In my humble opinion, I think they look much more accurate and fun than my previous renditions of the kids.
And... Here is the final. Color and shaded:
In addition to their poster that they recieved, I also designed neat little bookmarks, which also look great together in a set. Each bookmark is colored with their favorite color(as I remember... they may have changed it since...).

2011 Year end drawing
So about this time in 2011, I made a poster to mark the end of a great first year with the Grade 3 kids.
As you may have seen from one of my previous posts, I had drawn a certain animal character to represent each kid for that year. I wanted to bring them all back with a big bang... literally.

I continued to teach this group of kids up until last week. I have a year end poster for this year, which I will post later this week.

Isaiah's Birthday drawing (2012)
So last week was Isaiah's 10th birthday. Unfortunately, it lined up at the same time as the year end drawing, so I didnt have enough time.
It just so happens that I purchased a house this week, and been pretty busy, so I havent been able to start his drawing until tonight. That means theres not much time to put work into this before the printing place closes tomorrow...
Isaiah really likes football. Heres hoping for a really good drawing!

2010 Drawings cont'd
In addition to the birthday drawings, I made some time to draw some seasonal illustrations as well:
Easter. Now just for the record, the resurrection of Christ from the grave is the true meaning of Easter. The reason why this was drawn was because the kids and I were sitting down and deciding what kind of drawing to do for our missionary. They wanted me to draw a dog in a bunny costume holding a basket of broccoli. Go figure.
Hey now, what's this all about?
My name is Girish, and I love drawings cartoons.
I think it's important to understand what our purpose is in what we do. In the Summer of 2010, I discovered that purpose: to bring honor to the name of Jesus Christ. He loves me, and gave himself up for me, for my sake. For that, I owe him everything I got. Including my drawings.
In fall of the same year, I began teaching Sunday School. This was a exciting opportunity to show kids God's love through my passion of illustration. So here is my collection of 2010-'11birthday drawings for my grade 3 class. I would draw each kid's drawing based on 3 things:
• Favorite Animal
• Favorite Color
• Favorite Activity
The results were some pretty wacky drawings. Very good practice, I'd say!
